First of all, any decent folk musician has to write a decent two-chord song. I found this song surprisingly caught on with many of my female housemates and I'd get multiple requests to play it. So I call it my two-chord, Top 40 hit. It was inspired by a fast and furious relationship with a fiery Aries in which I learned much more about establishing my own boundaries and sentiments about relationships.
lyrics
Don’t ask me to marry your ideas
I got my own
Don’t ask me to let go of my fears
You got your own
Let me go
Don’t ask me to marry your ideals
I got my own
Let me go
Don’t tell me to listen to my feelings
You got your own
Let me go
I’m learning to love myself just the way I am
Please ask me to marry to your dreams
They’re who you are
Please ask me to follow my dreams
They’re who I am
Let me in
I’m learning to love yourselves just the way you are
Like a beautiful, intriguing, abstract piece of art
I’m learning to love yourself just the way you are
Stand on your two feet and I’ll
Stand on my two feet and we’ll
Plant this seed
We shall see
